Native athlete commits to rugby academy

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — An area rugby participant has dedicated to MacDowell Rugby Academy in Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island.

Waylon Fenton has had an eventful 12 months, after competing within the LA 7’s Worldwide Rugby Match with the Indigenous Thunder Rugby Membership final summer time, setting nationwide data on the Northern Powerlifting Basic final weekend, and now, committing to a semester at MacDowell Rugby Academy.

The 16-year-old met Robin MacDowell, director of rugby on the academy and Workforce Canada alumni, on Vancouver Island on the under-18 rugby group trials.

Fenton stated after discussing this system and what it needed to provide, he determined to take the chance to work on growing his rugby profession with MacDowell.

“Robin MacDowell has helped lots of people previously actually develop their rugby profession,” stated Fenton.

“So to have the ability to go to Cowichan Valley, the place they’re taking part in and training rugby each single day, I believe I might undoubtedly enhance.”

Fenton’s semester at MacDowell Rugby Academy begins in February of 2023.
